Abstract

Studies on the 12 male Baladi goat about 5-6 month old and divided into 4 groups each contain 3 goats and each group immunized by crude, ES and GST antigen respectively, while 4th group with out immunization. All 4 group are challenge orally with 125 encysted metacercariae of Fasciola gigantica. Serum samples were collected weekly for 20 weeks . Serological examination revealed a significant increase in mean OD level in crude, ES and GST antigen compared with non immunized control group from day of infection till 6 wpi, 14th and 5th wpi respectively. Biochemical analysis revealed that a non significant difference between all immunized groups, significant decrease in all immunized groups compared with non immunized control group in case of AST and ALT activity respectively. On other hand by analysis of serum protein revealed that, a highly significant increase in all immunized group compared with non immunized group in case of Total serum protein concentration and globulin while a significant decrease in non immunized group in case of albumin concentration. Parasitological examination of immunized group by crude, ES and GST antigen induce reduction % in EPG faeces , where it was 34.3, 53.1 and 90.7% respectively. Reduction in worm burden in immunized group with crude, ES and GST antigen where 23.7, 32.2 and 66.1% respectively. This indicated that the GST antigen immunized goats give higher protection rate than ES and crude antigen immunized goats.
