Abstract A total of 43 Salmonella isolates were recovered from 950 poultry samples distributed as from 440 diseased poultry, 260 poultry feedstuffs, 150 poultry’ products, 100 (1 day) old chicks samples. The strains were identified by cultural and biochemical methods. Serotyping of the identified isolates was done. The pathogenic effects of the representative serovars were examined on 1-day old chicks by 2 routes (oral and I/M) and one dose. The mortality percent of the 1 -fey old chicks ranged from 80 - 20 %. Total DNA virulence gene were detected rang PCR. Four serovars have total DNA virulence gene. PI asm id analysis of the ten representative serotypes were done. The molecular weights of the alasmids varied from 1.7 to 81.397 kb. The correlation between the presence of special plasmid and virulence associated genes in relation to the virulence of Salmonella serovars were still questionable. |
