Abstract Asthma is a leading cause of chronic illness in childhood. It is one of the most common pediatric chronic lung disorders in the world and is responsible for significant mortality, school absence and morbidity.Numerous factors complicate both short and long term management of asthma. Choosing appropriate medications depends on the severity, patterns of disease activity and age of onset.In our study our aim was to : detect the presence of transient lactic acidosis as a side effect of inhaled B2 agonist therapy during the management of asthma.The study was conducted in Menoufiya University Hospital ,it include 31 patients, 20 males and 11 females .Age range from 2-14 years old with a mean age of ( 4.7) years.Our patients presenting with a cute on top of chronic asthmatic attack ,under prophylactic anti-asthmatic medication on asthmatic attacks, age 2 and 2 years old and included all types of severity of asthma.Each child received 0.1 mg Salbutamol inhalation / kg in 3 ml saline and O2 with frequent nebulization . The duration in-between the inhalation was 20 minute. |
