6) Liquid temperature has great influence on the rate of cavitation damage due to its effect on the physical properties of the liquid. 7) At low temperature water cavitation damage rates is greater than that with lubricating oil, but at temperature higher than the midway between the melting point and the boiling point of water the damage rates of water cavitation become less. It will be negligible as water temperature approaches the boiling point.
8) Corrosion promotes cavitation damage rates where the material is sensitive to it. Hence, low cavitation stress can cause serious deterioration of the material by removing corrosion products.
9) Nickel and tin plating could decrease cavitation erosion rates of the material and with nickel coating material resistance is greater than that with tin coating.
1) All cavitation erosion tests presented here have been carried out under atmospheric pressure. Since the pressure in the cooling and lubricating systems could be different, further tests should be carried out to determine the role of the static pressure on cavitation erosion rates.
2) Further tests should be carried out to determine the role of corrosion inhibitors, antifreezes and lubricating oil additives on these rates.
3) Since cavitation erosion rates are depend on material hardness,
further tests should lw c!1rried out to determine tile f’ffC’ct of the
other mechanical properties of the material on these rates.
4) further tests shoulc) he carried out to invcstigat(. the effect of
other protective layers on cavitation damage rates.
