Abstract
In a trial to develop the already produced inactivated RVF vaccine and overcome the problems influenced by its short term immunity , an oil adjuvant named montanide IMS 206 was used replacing the alum gel.Five experimented batches of the oily vaccine were produced firstly , the oil was added weight by weight and then added volume by volume in 10,20,30&40% concentrations.The sterility and safety of the vaccine was tested and the vaccine proved to be sterile & safe.
As the ED50 of the WV 10% vaccine was equal to the W/W vaccine the former was used to monitor the immune response in sheep.
Four groups of sheep were used for this purpose, the first was inoculated with 1ml of the vaccine S/C, the second was inoculated with two doses one month apart, while the third was inoculated with one vaccine dose and challenged with RVF virus after one month. Lastly one group kept as control.
The antibodies provoked by the oily RVF vaccine were monitored using ELISA and serum neutralization test.
