Abstract Lipid-based paracetamol granules were prepared using the melt granulation technique with different lipids in different drug: lipid ratios and different granular sizes. Melt granulation was performed at 80-90°C using lipids as binders, Granules prepared using stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, and Precirol in drug: lipid ratios of 1:0, 1:0.25, 1:0.50, 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 and ranging in size from 160-250tm, 250-400tm, and 400-630tm were evaluated by the gustatory sensation test and by drug release study to examine the effect of different types and concentrations of the lipids used, as well as granular size on paracetamol taste and release. In addition, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was conducted to study the surface morphology of the prepared granules. |
