Abstract

The leguminous crops are considered one of the most important field and vegetable crops for both Human and animal feeding in the world and Egypt. The production of vegetable crops especially cowpea is a source of plant protein has recently increased to cover local consumption as well as export purposes. This crop is attacked by many insect pests throughout the growing season, which cause considerable damage to both quantity and quality. Therefore, the present work was carried out at the Experimental Farm of Sakha Agric. Res. Station and three locations representing the main cultivation centers of cowpea in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate during three successive seasons; 2006, 2007 and 2008 to study the following objectives :
1 Survey of insect species associated with cowpea at Kafr El-Sheikh governorate There were 26 species of insect species affiliated to 24 families and 11 orders. These insects could be classified as, 14 species as pests, 8 species as predators and 4 species as visitor insects.
