This work was designed to throw further light on the possible scavenger effect of three naturally occurring products, Garlic, Ginseng and Melatonin in adult and aged rats. The present study deals with the following parameters as: 1- Hepatic reduced glutathione. 2- Hepatic glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px). 3- Hepatic superoxide dismutaese (SOD). 4- Hepatic catalase (CAT). 5- Glucose-6- phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-ph-D). 6- Hepatic malondaldehyde (MDA). 7 - Gene expression of glucose-o-phosphate dehydrogenase. A total of rats where used in the present study divided into two groups: 1- Adult rats (6 months). II-Aged rats (14 months). Each group subdivided into 4 groups: 1- Control group (received normal food only). 2- Melatonin group (received Melatonin). 3- Garlic group (received garlic) with normal food. 4- Ginseng group (received ginseng) with normal food. The obtained results showed that: l-Hepatic glutathione peroxidase: There is increased in the activity of glutathione peroxidase in aged and adults rats compared with control group. |
