Abstract Oil pollution of the sea attracts great public attention because it is visible most people encounter it either at first hand on bathing beaches,or from pictures on televisionor in the press whenever there is a spectacular oil spill.Petroleum hydrocarbons reach the sea by many routes, however and lanker accidents are by no means the only source of oil pollution,(Clark,2001).Urbanization and industrial development along the world’s coastlines have been proceeded celerity for hundreds of years.Commensurate with this, the chemical quality for adjoining waters and benthic sediments have been tutelaged by continual discharges of hazardous solids and liquid wastes. The introduction of anthropogenic contaminants onto the environment has been considered a factor in declining health of some of the world’s aquatic communities. |
