Abstract

Composite soil samples were randomly collected monthly for one year from the rhizosphere of Anna Apple, Seedless Grape , Balady Peach, Naval Orange , Balady Mandarin, and Balady Lemon trees grown at Kafer El Zayat locality of El Gharbia Governorate during the period from September, 2006 to August, 2007, samples were transferred to the laboratory to extract nematodes in order to study the ecology of plant parasitic nematode genera infected these crops.
Results can be summarized as follow:
1- There were eight neinatode genera infecting rhizosphere and roots of examined trees , these genera are : citrus nematode , Tylenclzrrlus , lesion nematode , Prntylenclzus, spiral nematode , Helicotylenclzus , dagger nematode, Xiplzinemn, root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne , needle nematode , Longidorus, stunt nematode, Tylenclt orltynclt us ,and sheath nematode , Hemicyclioplzorn.
2- The highest nematode population genus at Anna apple orchard was Prntylenclzus nematode with grand mean numbers of 123.03 individuals per 200 g soil , followed by Helicotylenclzus recording 44.1 1 individuals per 200 g soil, and Xiplzinemn, gave 24.05 individuals per 200 g soil. Root knot nematode, Meloidogyne recorded 17.77 individuals per 200 g soil, while the least numbers were obtained with Longidorus giving only 8.6 individuals per 200 g soil , and Tylencltorltyncltus represented 1.66 individuals per 200 g soil ,where it was found only at January month .
