Abstract -Summary and Conclusion The main objective of this study was to compare between two surgical procedures: total hysterectomy and modified total hysterectomy regarding post operative sexual and urinary functions assessment. Eighty four women indicated for hysterectomy have been enrolled in the study and randomly assigned to one of the two groups; group A (Total hysterectomy, n=42) or group B (Modified total hysterectomy, n=42). Urinary functions were assessed as regards the percentages of symptoms (urinary incontinence, dysuria, frequency, nocturia and incomplete voiding) and urodynamic studies (uroflometry, cystometry and urethral pressure profilometry). Sexual functions were assessed through five main parameters: coital frequency per month, occurrence of orgasm, presence of dyspareunia, lipido (frequency of sexual desire) and vaginal dryness. Both groups were found to be matched regarding age and weight (p-value > 0.05). Mean age was found to be 47.2 ± 1.34 in group A versus 46.6 ± 2.87 in group B. No statistically significant difference was found between both groups as regards other personal and sociodemographic characteristics including residence, educational level and job. |
