Abstract Schistosomiasis is the major health problem in Egypt and other tropical and subtropical countries. Schistosomiasis has many economic and social impacts. Although proteinuria and hematuria are of the cardinal signs in Schistosomiasis. However, very little was done about the nature and number of urinary proteins of Schistosoma patients. Only one refernce could be traced that specifically deals with the nature of these proteins and only three protein bands were obtained after polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. These bands were provisionally identified as albumin, transferrin, and IgG. Accordingly, this study was planned in order to investigate the nature and number of these proteins by using sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and to dtermine the exact amount of transferrin and albumin lost in the urine of Bilhharzial patients. Also this study explore the effect of Schistosomiasis on the activity of both a-amylase and leucine amino peptidase enzymes |
