Abstract The study aims at assessing the feasibility of using benchmarking techniques as a tool of continuous quality improvement. And then, determining drivers and resources needed for effective application of benchmarking in specific higher education institutions of hospitality in Egypt. The literature review revealed the ambiguous nature of benchmarking concept, Types, and methods which led to varied results of their application. Based on quantitative research methods, a questionnaire form was distributed to (137) participants from faculties and four -year institutes of tourism and hotels. The results identified the main drivers and the required resources needed for effective application of benchmarking. Benchmarking outcomes were achieved in spite of perceived obstacles. A measured framework was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of benchmarking in higher education institutions of hospitality in Egypt. The study recommended HEIs (1)To formulate a Benchmarking Manual for the Hospitality Higher Education Institutions. (2) Establishing The National Benchmarking Club and formulating the Best Practices Bank. |
