Abstract The presences of gestational diabetes mellitus have implications for both the infant and the mother. Newborn infants of diabetic mothers may have a variety of complications, which can be significant and potentially harmful complications for both infants and their diabetic mothers it includes; macrosomia, respiratory dis tress syndrome, hypoglycemia, jaundice and hypocalcaemia. In this respect, proper and optimal glycemic control can be achieved by early feeding practices of IDM. The aims of the study are to: 1- Assess feeding practices of infant of diabetic mather. 2- Assess glycemic control of infant of diabetic mother. The study was carried out at intensive care unit (ICU) of EL-Naser, EL-Amery, EL-Tadamon, and AL-Solyman hospitals in Port Said city, including 106 infants of diabetic mothers. Inclusion criteria: Infant of diabetic mother, their gestational age ranged between 30 – 42 weeks regardless their gender, delivered either vaginally or caesarean section, either having hypoglycemia or not. Mothers suffering from gestational diabetes and having the first born infant. Tool of data collection: 1- Infants medical record was checked when necessary to ;make sure from certain data. View and follow doctor order. 2- each IDM was assessed using assessment sheet that was designed by the Researcher to gather the required data and composed of the following parts. |
