Study Institution: Faculty of Education – Assiut University. br The present study sought to identify the effectiveness of a Cognitive Behavioral program in developing the social competence of primary school deaf pupils. The psychometric sample of the study included all deaf pupils at Al-Amal primary Co-School for the Deaf and hearing impaired in the city of Assiut, whose ages range between (9-12) years old. The clinical sample comprised (24) deaf pupils who were further subdivided into two groups: an expert group and a control group ( 12 deaf pupils for each). The tools of the study included the Social Competence Scale for Students, the Social Competence Scale for Teachers, the information gathering form about the deaf child, the pupils school files, the Social, Economic and Cultural Questionnaire, the pictorial Intelligence Scale, and The Counseling Program, to handle the results of the study, the researcher used some statistic non- parametric. br The study has come to the following results: br - There are statistically significant differences between boys and girls in the mean scores on the Social Competence Scale in favor of girls. br - There are statistically significant differences between the scores of both the experimental and control groups on the Social Competence Scale in the post test in favor of the experimental group. br - There are statistically significant differences between the scores of the experimental group on the Social Competence Scale; both in the pre- and post tests in favor of the post test. br - There are not any statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experiment group after the administration of the program, and their mean scores on the Social Competence Scale two months after the application of the program.
