Abstract

According to WHO definition Quality of life is defined as an individual’s perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns. It is a broad ranging concept affected in a complex way by the person’s physical health, psychological state, level of independence, social relationships, and their relationships to salient features of their environment.
Health related quality of life (HRQL) has been recognized as an important pediatric outcome measurement. One of the more promising measures to emerge in recent years is the Pediatric Quality Of Life Inventory (PedsQL).
Recommendations for valuing preference-based quality-of-life for child maltreatment will vary by developmental level and type of maltreatment.
The analysis for depressed diabetic group showed there were statistically significant differences in the quality-of-life effects in the physical and mental component summaries of the SF-12v2
Depression for those with diabetes is an important co-morbidity that requires careful management because of its severe impact on quality of life.
Chronic liver diseases (CLDs) are progressive disorder which has a significant impact on the well-being of patients and leads to significant morbidity. CLDs are characterized by disturbances in physical, psychological and social aspects of well-being. It causes significant health-related quality of life (QOL) impairment.
Gender did not correlate with the level of HRQoL among chronic hemodialysis patients.
Depression is common and associated with decreased health-related quality of life and increased mortality in hemodialysis patients.
Optimal care for the pediatric patient with chronic kidney disease requires attention not only to medical management but also the psychosocial and developmental factors that will either ensure or prevent a pediatric patient’s successful transition into adulthood. We review the range of issues that impact pediatric CKD patient health-related quality of life (HRQOL).
