Abstract Cracks are one of the most common defects occur in reinforced concrete elements. Cracks in concrete have many causes. They may affect appearance only, or they may indicate significant structural distress or lack of durability. Cracks may represent the total extent of the damage. The proper repair of cracks depends on knowing the causes and selecting the repair procedures that consider these causes. This research was carried out to study the feasibility of using injection and grouting materials in the repair of reinforced concrete elements. Epoxy is the most common resin used in crack injection in order to repair reinforced concrete elements. In this research, different methods and advanced materials were used in repairing reinforced concrete beams. An experimental program was applied on sixteen beams which cast with two different types of concrete characteristic strength, (normal strength concrete with compressive strength 300kg/cm2 and high strength concrete with compressive strength 800kg/cm2). Beams were divided into five groups according to the method of repair and the preloading level of ultimate load. The tested beams were preloaded to 70%, 90% and 100% of their ultimate load. |
