Abstract
Breast diseases have a wide range of varieties, one of three women develops a breast lump in her breast, although most detected masses are benign, every women with breast lump should be evaluated to exclude or establish the diagnosis of breast cancer.
We summarized how to evaluate a breast lump, how to do breast examinations either self examination or clinical breast examination.
We also discussed the role of mammogram and ultrasound in diagnosis and screening of cancer breast.
New modalities including MRI, MRM, CAD and CT their benefits, advantages, disadvantages and their role in management of breast masses are also discussed.
We have discussed the invasive techniques of investigations, and their role in diagnosis and treatment of breast masses.
Also we discussed the pathology of benign lesions differential diagnosis and ways of management of each type of them.
Lastly we mentioned the epidemiology, risk factors pathophysiology, laboratory investigations and pathology of cancer breast.The role of surgery, types of breast surgeries, indication of each type, chemotherapy, the traditional and the new regimen of chemotherapy, all have been discusse.The role of tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors and radiotherapy role in the preoperative and post operative treatment of cancer breasts all have also been discussed
