Abstract

The corrosion problem is of a great problem, which faced the world from the last years until now, we can’t hide this problem from our live but we can reduce “inhibit” it in the metals by several methods as the environment need. This work discuss the corrosion of 316 L SS in 1M HCl
Chapter one: ”INTRODUCTION’: This chapter discusses: 316 L SS applications and characteristics of 316 L SS, definition of corrosion, classification of corrosion, cost of corrosion, factors influencing corrosion, types of inhibitors, electrochemical methods, corrosion inhibitors
Chapter two: ” EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES ’ It includes the chemical composition of the investigated material, preparation of the used hydrochloric acid solution, the used pyrazolone derivatives solutions and procedures used for the corrosion measurements
Chapter three: ” RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:divided into four sections
Section(A) : Evaluation of the inhibitor efficiency by weight loss method in the presence and absence of pyrazolone derivatives in 1 M HCl at 25 oC.These pyrazolone derivatives obey Temkin’s adsorption isotherm
Section (B) Evaluation of the inhibitor efficiency by potentiodynamic polarization method
Section (C): The results obtained from (EIS) show that the corrosion reactions in the absence and presence of pyrazolone derivatives
Section (D): The new technique (electrochemical frequency modulation) (EFM) was used as a rapid and non-destructive technique
Section (E): The influence of the chemical structure of the investigated pyrazolone compounds on their inhibition efficiencies.
