Abstract

Although the treatment of CAD has been considerably improved by stent implantation, restenosis still remain an unresolved problem. Apart from influences caused by intervention or the illness itself, the stent material employed also play an important role in the success of implantation as well as in the occurrence of restenosis.
Various studies have shown that stent design, stent coating and stent strut thickness may determine event-free survival . CCSs are increasingly used in PCI due its better properties.
Aim of the work:
To compare the outcome of both CCS and BMS regarding in-hospital and intermediate term prognosis of patients with CAD.
Patient’s selection:
This study was conducted on 80 patients with symptomatic ischemic heart disease attributable to de novo or restenotic non-stented native lesions of coronary vessels in the period between February 2008 and June 2010 .
The inclusion criteria were : symptomatic patients with CAD who were referred for elective PCI.
The exclusion criteria were: Primary PCI and lesion not amenable for stenting as thrombus containing lesion.
