Abstract

Our major findings are :
1) Grades of the pediatric brain tumors could easily be differentiated
into high and low grades by the lower absolute and relative ADC
values of lesions
2) By lower accuracy the differentiation of the tumor into 4 grades
according to WHO classification can done by the ADC values of the
lesion
3) Malignant brain tumors could be classified as high or low grade by
using the single MRS parameters especially absolute choline level as
well as the choline to NAA ratio with lesser statistically significance.

The combination of single-voxel MR spectroscopy and ADC calculation
could improve the diagnostic efficacy of MR imaging in the differentiation
and grading of brain tumors.
The diffusion study has advantages of low examination time and simple
post processing and calculation of ADC value and has a high sensitivity
and specificity in detection of the tumor grade.
On other hand the MR spectroscopy has a relatively longer examination
time, inaccurate assessment especially in the lesion with heterogeneous
components as well as complicated post processing and interpretation, in
addition to lower accuracy in predication of tumor grade.
So we recommended to use the diffusion study and calculated ADC values
of the tumor in order to preoperative grading of the tumor.
