Abstract

Hysteroscopy is a method of direct visualization of the endometrial cavity. The instrument used has evolved from the historical cystscope and is based on the same principles.
The role of hysteroscopy in infertility investigations may be to detect possible intrauterine changes that could interfere with implantation or growth, or both, of the conceptus, and to evaluate the benefit of different treatment modalities in restoring a normal Endometrial environment. (11)
Nevertheless, according to our experience, OH has clearly many advantages that need to be emphasized:
1. Hysteroscopy is a safe and well-tolerated procedure that is performed for diagnostic or operative indications.
2. The procedure is minimally invasive, and can be performed in an office-based gynecological practice
3. The procedure has a very low technical failure rate.
4. The procedure gives the ability to visualize the entire lower genital tract (vaginoscopy, cerviscopy) abnormalities missed by TVS. Abnormalities,
5. The procedure takes only a few minutes with a high patient compliance. The ability of the patients to interact while performing the procedure increases their understanding and acceptability.
6. The patient being awake makes pain a safeguard against complications, such as faulty introduction or perforation. Likewise, as entry into the uterine cavity is made under vision, the risk of perforation is minimal.
