Abstract

This study was carried out in Animal Production Department Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University during the period of April 2006 till July 2007. The laboratory work was taken place at the Animal Production Department Laboratories at the same faculty.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the supplementation of Carum Carvi (Caraway) and Pimpinella Anisum L. (Anise) to sheep rations and study their effect on nutrient digestibility, some producction performance and physiological traits of Ossimi sheep. The ecoonomical evaluation of the tested rations was also considered.
Four digestibility trials using three Ossimi rams in each treatment were carried out to determine the nutrients digestibility and feeding value of the experiment rations.
Experimental (2):
In feeding ewes trial, thirty two pregnant Ossimi ewes aged 2-3 years were randomly divided into four groups (8 ewes each) of similar live body weight (48± lkg). Ewes of the 1st group was given a basal ration only and considered as the control. The 2nd group was given a basal ration plus 15g/head/day of Caraway seeds. The 3rd group was given a basal ration plus 15g/head/day of Anise seeds. The 4th group was given a basal ration plus 7.5g Caraway and 7.5g Anise/head/day. The basal ration in the experiment was consisted of 750 g/head/day of CFM and 750g/head/day of wheat straw. This trial lasted for 180 days.
