Abstract

This work is performed to investigate the effect of two anticoccidial drugs (toltrazuril and salinomycin) on the pharmacokinetics and tissue residues of two macrolide antibiotics (tilmicosin and spiramycin) in experimentally infected broiler chickens with coccidia oocyst (50000 oocyst/bird). Reversed phase-high performance liquid chromatography with UV-detector (RP-HPLC-UV) was used for determining the two macrolide antibiotics concentrations in serum and tissue samples. It was found that tilmicosin absorption from the crop after administration orally at a dose of (30mg/kg b.wt.) was enhanced under the influence of toltrazuril at a dose of (7 mg/kg b.wt.), but salinomycin at a dose of (20 mg/kg b.wt.) retards the absorption of spiramycin after oral administration at a dose of (60000 iu/kg b.wt.). After oral dosing all tissues were considered free from the two macrolide antibiotics at the 11th day post dosage cessation.
