Abstract

The kidney failure is one of the health main problems in the world today . Hemodialysis is the main mean to save the lives of patients with kidney failure ,it is the compensatory treatment and it has many problems such as malnutrition therefore designed this study.
A random sample Has been selected of 47 included patients with kidney failure consisted of 28 patients were male average age 34.4 years, female 19 patients an average age of 37.1 years and continued to study for one year in the urology and nephrology center, Mansoura University.
The results showed the following:-
For the awareness of food (35.7%) males and (21.1%) of females ate two meals only a day, while (92.9%) males and (63.2%) of females ate more than 1 liter fluid per day, and that (14.3%) males and (15.8%) of female eating a high concentration of salt and all this shows a lack of awareness of food for these patients. for the measurements, the average BMI was (24.19 - 25.98 kg / m2) for males, while BMI in females (25.98 kg / m 2), it means that the ideal weight patients and some patients have mild obesity.
For the Dietary intake and chemical analyses although, getting the needs of the protein, but the rate of albumin blood was below the normal level, also the food intake of calcium is less than the recommendations, as well as the level of calcium with blood less than normal, average food intake of potassium is less than dietary recommendations , the level of potassium in the blood above requires, also iron intake is more than recommendations with a low blood haemoglobin content which Indicates a lack of nutritional status and health.
