Abstract Neck pain is a common problem, responsible for high costs and disability. It is multifactorial in origin, most common causes are mechanical. A variety of interventions have been described for the treatment of neck pain, including; patient education, orthoses, physical modalities, traction, exercise therapy, manual therapies, pharmacotherapy, injection therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy, but no specific treatment exists for each cause. Some methods of treatment as exercise, manual therapy, and trigger points injection proved to be more effective than other methods of treatment. On the other hand, cervical pillows, collars, and ergonomics lack for evidence. Combining manual therapy, exercise therapy, physiotherapy, and behavioural therapy, what is known as multimodal treatment, is proved to be more effective for reducing neck pain, and disability than either straregy alone. |
