Abstract Energy allows living things to move about, grow and develop. Machines need energy to work. There are many different forms of energy. Today most of the energy used in homes and industries comes from fossil, fuels such as oil and coal. The energy output of wind energy system depends on the recorded wind data and the wind turbine height at site where it is installed, the turbine performance and the mechanical and electrical efficiencies are also significant parameter for estimating this energy. Wind speed is neither completely random nor completely predictable. It often follows daily, seasonal and annual patterns. Wind speed range is usually recorded. To generate electricity, wind turbines are used to convert mechanical power from the wind to electricity. A wind driven electrical generator consist of a rotating machine tuned by horizontal or vertical axis wind turbine which is pushed around by the force from the wind upon it’s propel. Finally we can conclude that a wind energy system is the most economic technology from electricity generation, but is limited by wind availability and energy abundant. Electricity produced from the wind is cheaper than the electricity produced by another form of fossil fuels energy that pollutes the environment. This study is divided into six chapters: Chapter 1: This chapter concentrates on the vital need for wind energy and the importance of the subject. Chapter 2: It is a historical study on the uses of wind and the economics advantages, social and environmental of wind energy, and good wind resources in the world. Chapter 3: It illustrates the electricity generation from the wind by wind turbine. Chapter 4: Demonstrate the speed control of wind turbines and reasons must be controlled. Chapter 5: It is a study on the economics to wind energy, and the cost of energy generator by wind power. Chapter 6: It gives the main concluded points from this studying and the future outlook of wind energy. |
