Abstract Benign stromal lesions of the breast are rare entities. They can be classified into non-neoplastic and neoplastic entities. Non-neoplastic lesions like Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia, amyloid. Neoplastic stromal lesions such as fibromatosis, granular cell tumor, Leiomyoma, Lipoma, and vascular lesions and others. Periductal stromal tumors of the breast (biphasic tumors), including fibroadenoma and Phylloides tumors (PT), arise from the epithelial and stromal components of the terminal duct-lobular unit. These tumors enter in differential diagnosis of many benign stromal lesions. These benign stromal lesions can be mistaken for malignant tumor. Thus, Immunohistochemical studies and special stains are considered mandatory tools for differentiation between benign and malignant lesions and sometimes these tools help in differentiation between these benign stromal lesions. FNAC is simple, cost effective and less traumatic as well as highly sensitive and specific method for assessment of breast lumps. Complications of FNAC are rare. |
