Abstract

maurosis fugax is the most common ocular symptom in
patients who had ocular ischemic diseases (47.44%)
(Jiang et al., 2010).
Etiology and pathophysiology of amaurosis fugax is very
complex. In classification we differentiate four types:
angiospasm, retinal and cortical visual center hypoperfusion,
embolic-thrombosis causes and migraine as idiopathic
(Vojnikovic et al., 2010).
AION comprises arteritic AION (A-AION: due to giant cell
arteritis) and non-arteritic AION (NA-AION: due to other
causes). PION consists of arteritic PION (A-PION: due to giant
cell arteritis), non-arteritic PION (NA-PION: due to other
causes), and surgical PION (a complication of several systemic
surgical procedures (Hayreh, 2011).
Cortical blindness caused by bilateral lesions of the primary
visual cortex in the occipital lobes (Georgios et al., 2010).
Terson’s syndrome is intraocular hemorrhage subsequent
to subarachnoid hemorrhage (Hassan et al., 2011).
