Abstract The prevalence of Chlamydophila psittaci in the examined turkeys (15-35 %) , ducks (10 -15%) , chickens (5%) and pigeons (13.4 – 28.7 %) . The detection of chlamydial infection by real time PCR was more sensitive than the isolation of organism in embryonated chicken eggs or in vero cell culture .Experimental infection of turkey poults and young ducklings intra tracheal with isolated Chlamydophila psittaci from turkeys and ducks respectively , induced different (mortality,diarrhea,closed eye and DROPping in wings in inoculated turkey poults (mortality,diarrhea, staggering in gait and head shaking in inoculated youngs ducklings).In histopathology examination showed pathological changes in heart as mycocarditis , lung (emphysema )and hepatic tissue (oedema),also infiltration of heterphilis in tissue and presence of intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies of Chlamydophila psittaci. |
