Abstract The present study was aimed to improve the postpartum reproductive performance of Egyptian buffalo cows. Also to minimize some troubles in their neonates such as pneumonia, enteritis and mortality rate by administration of levamisole hydrochloride, Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG), Alphamune and Nigella sativa to the buffaloes during late gestation in the dry period. This study was carried out on thirty Egyptian buffalo cows aged 3 - 8 years at the same stage of gestation (8 - 8.5 months) at EL-Gemiza experimental station belongs to Animal Production Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture. The buffaloes were divided into five groups each of 6 buffalo cows: Each animal was· injected or given two doses of immunopotentiators used one week apart, 42 days (6 weeks) prior to expected date of parturition. Group I: Animals were injected subcutaneously with two doses (2 mg/kg body weight) of 10% levamisole hydrochloride. Group 11: Animals were injected intradermaly with two doses (0.5 ml) of BCG. Group Ill: Animals were given two doses (20 gm orally) of Alphamune TM.Group IV: Animals were given two doses (50 mg/kg body weight orally)ofNigella sativa. |
