Abstract

During the course of a criminal investigation, many types of physical idellCe are encOlilltered. One of the most common is hair. It can be a alliable tool of identification and comparison of human and animal hairs and can help in demonstrating physical contact with a suspect, victim, and crime scene. This essay was done at forensic med. & Tox. dept. EIMinia university to threw light on hair as an important tool in diagnosis and as an evident in forensic med.
Hair appear on the body as a whole at the end of second trimester. It is ectodermal in origin. H air consists of dennal hair papilla, hair matrix, hair shaft, hair root, glassy membrane and fibrous root sheath. Hair shaft consists of medulla, cortex and hair cuticle.
There are two types of hair sample collection, questioned and known. Questioned sample, which are loose hairs collected from an object by picking them of individuals. Known sample is taken :f1-Oln relevant people for comparisons to questioned hair.
