Abstract

this experimental study was done to detect the hazards of these drugs on the adult and neonates.
total number of ISO adult albino rats of both sexes and average weight 180- 200gm were used in this study they were 50 adult male wh ich were used for mating purpose on Iy , and the remaining 100 adult female on which the study was done.
The adult female rats were divided into 3 groups :-
• control group included 40 adult female rates.
• Chronic amphetamine toxicity group included 30 adult female rates.
• Chronic heroin toxicity group include 30 adult female rates.
Each group was given the treatment protocol and after 6 weeks of treatment 10 rats from each group were sacri fled for biochem ical and histopathological study , wh i Ie the remain i ng of each group were continued to be injected for another 6 weeks but with doubling the dose and then sacrcifted for biochemical and histopathological study.
During the period of injection pregnant females followed up and the delivered neonates examined for any congenital anomalies.
The biochem ical results of th is study showed that amphetamine abuse for 6 weeks lead to significant increase in level of bilirubin , SGPT , SGOT and creatinine, while blood urea.
