Abstract : Mervat Abd Elmonem Sadik : Advanced electrochemical methods for treatment of textile dyes wastewater and its reuse. : (Ph.D.) thesis, Faculty of Science, Helwan University, 2012 This work focuses on the possibility of using different electrodes material for the electrocatalytic oxidation process of some reactive dyes. On a laboratory scale, an electrochemical cell made of Plexiglas was used to test materials such as Pt, Au, Ag, C stainless, AI, Sn, Pb/Pb02 and All Ah03 as anodes. The PbIPb02 and All Ah03 electrode were prepared by anodizing .The different operating conditions of electro catalytic oxidation process which include current density, pH, electrolysis time, conductive electrolyte concentration and initial dye concentration were studied on synthetic samples containing specific amounts of reactive dyes and electrolytes diluted in tap water. Base on the laboratory scale study the optimum operating conditions for each of the above mentioned electrodes were detem1ined. Real wastewater samples are treated without adding any extra chemicals. Chemical oxygen demand (COD), energy consumption, TDS, conductivity, as well as the chloride concentration [Cn, were determined instrumentally. The percentage of color removal achieved is 97% and may reach 100% resulting in colorless final wastewater. C, Pb, Pb IPb02 electrodes resulted in the highest chemical oxygen demand in the presence of NaCI as supporting |
