Abstract Heavy industry surfacers, by electric arc spraying technique, sometimes face troubles in machines using defected reclaimed parts by arc spraying. This is because of failure of the deposited layers. This work presents a study of an idea for improving the physical, mechanical, wear behaviour and adhesion properties of deposited layers by the electric arc spraying for decreasing the possiblity of failure in the reclaimed parts. This idea is based on applying rolling operation to the deposited layers during spraying. A complete test rig was designed and constructed for making this research work. substrate and surfaced by 60E (13% Or) spraying wire. Hardness test, wear resistance tests, adhesion test, density test and microstructure investigations were made for the choice of the rolling force that can achieve the best improvements in the deposited layers. It is found that increasing the rolling force to about 777 N, results a deposited layer with maximum hardness, minimum wear rate, maximum adhesion, maximwn. |
