Abstract The contradicting observations of underestimation and overestimation of residual tumor size in women receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced breast cancer by MR imaging are derived from single institutional trials with small sample sizes; validation studies are needed with larger sample size and standardization chemotherapy regimens. Controversy also remains regarding the accuracy and most appropriate selection of measurements, which can be the single greatest diameter, two-dimensional or volumetric.
