Abstract

Pain related to bum dressing is the most extensively aspect of bum pain ,it is caused by manipulation of hyperlgesic tissue at the site of injury and surrounding area .Pain management is an integral component of nursing practice and major concern for most nurses regardless of practice setting because of amount of contact nurses have with patients in pain ,they play a vital role in overall management of pain through adequate assessment, selection of intervention for pain management, monitoring effect of treatment. Effective pain management requires knowledge of both non-pharmacological and pharmacological method to control pain for burned Patients. There are various non-pharmacological interventions as relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, distraction, guide imagery and distraction. Important considerations when selecting a non-pharmacological intervention for patients with bums are; simplicity, easy to learn, immediate usability and minimal expenditure of time and effort during use. Patients with bums are often too tired and ill to take the time and exert the discipline to learn complex techniques. Simple relaxation techniques meet these criteria, for example; breathing exercises, music therapy and distraction.
