Abstract

First experiment: Evaluation and genotypic stability of some
cowpea (Vigna unguiculata. (L.) Walp). Genotypes:
This investigation was carried out at Faculty of Agriculture Farm,
South Valley University, Qena Governorate. During the growing seasons
of 2009 and 2010. Nineteen cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) genotypes were
chosen according to their general performance and their seeds availability
and their stability performance was measured using the statistical model
of Eberhart and Russell (1966). The results obtained could be
summarized as follow:
Plant height:
The differences among all genotypes and environments were highly significant. While, insignificant an interaction between genotypes and environments was detected. The genotypes Azmerly, Black Crowder, IT82-812, IT90K1020-6 and Black crowder were stable with high mean
values, while, the genotypes Chinese Red, IT81D1064, IT85F2205, IT82C-16, Sudany and Cream 12 were stable with the mean values lower than the grand mean. Number of branches per plant:
The differences among all genotypes and environments were highly significant, also, the interactions between genotypes and environments. The genotypes Sudany and IT82-812 genotypes were stable with higher mean values, while, the genotypes Kaha 1, Cream 7
and IT93K2045-20 were stable with the mean values lower than the grand
mean.
