Abstract

The main goal of the present study is to determine the reliability on the groundwater in the reclamation of new agricultural land in the Nile Delta and the Wadi El-Natrun regions. Methods & Results Conducting a surveying and collecting data of groundwater wells constructed in the Nile Delta and the Wadi El-Natrun regions. The gained results revealed the follows; the estimation of transmissivity and hydraulic conductivity of groundwter wells in Nile Delta region were estimated as 2000 m2/day, and 240 m/day respectively, while the corresponding values of Wadi El-Natrun wells were estimated as 600 m2/day, and 9.5 m/day respectively. These results demonstrate that both the amount of water stored in aquifers and rate charging wells in Nile Delta region, increased about Wadi El-Natrun wells. The values of influence radius for Nile Delta wells are estimated 130 m, while the corresponding values of Wadi El-Natrun wells are estimated 50 m. Therfore it should be takes into account those values when creating a neighboring wells. That is done to avoid overlap between them, and also to avoid increases of drawdown level in neighboring wells. Conclusion The groundwater wells which have been constructed in the Nile Delta and the Wadi El-Natrun regions are valid to relied in reclamation of new agricultural land, and valid to used in irrigation directly without any treatment.
