Abstract

Eggplant, green pepper and plants of coriander, dill and parsley which grew, in an intercropping system were sprayed with profenofos 72% E.C. and methomyl 90% S.P. at the rate of 540 and 270 g a.i./fed. Also the rice ecosystem was treated with carbofuran at the rate of 600 g a.i./fed. Residue analysis showed that eggplant fruits had smaller amounts of profenofos and methomyl residues comparing with pepper fruits. Plants of coriander, dill and parsley have uptaken higher amounts since they grew in an intercropping system with pepper than that of eggplant. Dissipation percentages were much higher in case of pepper intercropping system than eggplant one. Pepper fruits contaminated with profenofos could be used safely after 12 days of spraying, while eggplant and pepper fruits contaminated with methomyl could be marketed safely for human consumption after 9 and 6 days after spraying. Plants of coriander, dill and parsley must be free from any residues for the human consumption. Rice plants have uptaken higher amounts of carbofuran after 7 weeks of treatment (7.36 mg/kg). Also it was found that no carbofuran residues were detected in rice grain at harvest time. Laboratory experiments revealed that tilapia fish was more sensitive to carbosulfan than that the herbicide thibencarb. Fish in the model of the aquatic ecosystem has uptaken higher amounts of carbosulfan residues than thibencarb.
