Abstract

Rice C oryza sativa , L,) is the main food crop for the maJority of people in the whole world, especially the over populated countries in Asia, Africa and south America. In Egypt, rice is considered to be one of the most important grain crops. It occupies annually about one million faddans producing about 3.13 million tons.
Rice yields in Egypt are considered high by world average. That is due to good soil and crop management, favorable climate, good water quality and use of varieties resisLanL to pests and diseases.
Increasing the productivity of the rice crop is the main aim of all rice producers. Therefore, agreat attention should be paid towards improving the yield to overcome the continous demand of this crop. This can be achieved by planting the high yielding cultivars as well as adopting the cultura) practices as the efficient use of nitrogen and zinc fertilizers, the suitable seedlings age and distances between hills.
Therefore, the present investigation was directed to study
1— The jfuenceonursery fertilization of zinc. Urea and

Giza 175 cultivars.
2— Effect of seedlings age and hill distances on the yield of 1R28 and Giza 175 cultivars.
3— The influence of nitrogen fertilizer levels, time of its application and their interactions on the yield of 1R28 and Giza 175 cultivars.
