Abstract The entitled thesis ”Physico-chemical studies on some ”amino alcohol complexes” comprises three chapters. Chapter I include a general published literature survey on the structural chemistry and the applications of ethanolamine complexes. Chapter II includes the experimental part of the thesis. CrIII, Mnll COIl NiII CUll Znll CdII Hgll and DO Il_ amino alcohol , , , , ” 2 complexes were prepared and analyzed. The simple complexes were separated in 1: 1, 1 :2, 2:2, 2:3 and 1:3 Metal: ligand ratios. Heteronuclear monoethanolamine complexes are also prepared and analyzed. Both Co-Cu-MEA and Ni-Cu-MEA complexes were separated in 1 :2:2 ratio, while the Co-Ni-MEA complex was separated in 1: 1:2 ratio. Different standardized instruments were used for obtaining the required data (uv-vis., ir, magnetic susceptibility, esr, thermal and electrical conductivity and dielectric measurements). Some statistical studies were done to obtain the different correlation coefficients between the data. Chapter III is concerned for the results and discussion. In all complexes, both oxygen and nitrogen atoms of the three ligands (MEA-monoethanolamine; DEA-diethanolamine; TEA-triethanol- amine) are the active centers for complexation. The prepared CrIII and Mnll complexes are: [Cr(MEA)3]CI3, [Cr(DEA)3]C13, [Cr(TEA)3]C13, [Mn(MEA)3]C12, [Mn(DEA)3]C12 and [Mn(TEA)3]C12 with Oh structure. All of these are of high spin nature. |
