Abstract Leaching in—situ is a new technique proposed to be a successful new mining method. Six experiments were conducted using uranium—bearing sandstone and uniaxial flow of O.2N solution of sulfuric acid and satisfactory recovery ranging from 59.5% to 76.1% was achieved. The relationships between percentage recovery and permeability, between uranium concentration in leach liquor and permeability and between gas and liquid per— meabilities were established. The experiments did not reveal any conclusive relationship between the percentage recovery and the uranium assay in the work and that between average uranium concentration in leach liquor and the initial uranium assay in the rock. |
