Abstract
Schistosomiasis is a major health problem in many countries including EGYPT. It is estimated that 10% of 200 million infected with schistosomiasis in EGYPT. This makes the fight against it is of prime imporance.. Eradication of the parasit represent thr main item in this respect (Abdel — Nahab.,, 1988).
Chemo therapy in one of the most valuable method for control of schistosomiasis. Praziquantel is one of the most recent anti bilharzial drugs used in the treatment of schistosome species and despite the well known therapeutic single dose of the drug, yet there is a dilema of personal experience as regards an effective regimen o-f praziquantel required for cure and / or reduction of intensity of infection with bilbazial ova.
therefore, this study is arranged to find an effective regimen with praziquantel (40 mh/kg/boody weight) for patients infected with active schistosomiasis.
