Abstract The present work carried on 50 chronic HCV patients both males and females aging from 18 to 60years .They were selected from Kafr El Sheikh Hepatology center. Twenty eight cases (56%) were males and twenty two cases were females(44%). The results of the present work showed a highly statistical significant decrease of the level of vitamin D3 level at 12th weeks of treatment more than that at 1st week of treatment Patients become PCR –VE with percentage ( 88%) and PCR+ve (12% ) at 12week of treatment although it is statistically not significant , but clinically of highly significant for the patients and doctor to continue therapy because all the patients are +ve at the start of treatment. Serum levels of vitamin D was significantly predictor for viral response in patient with HCV infection under standard treatment and also suggesting a relation of vitamin D status with the severity of liver disease and degree of fibrosis. The results of the present work showed there was no statistical significance between level of vit D3 and response to treatment by interferon and ribavirin as regard CBC and liver function tests except the level of alkaline phosphatase that increased at 12 weeks of treatment . The level of vit D3 decrease when the stage of fibrosis increase which is statistically highly significant (p=0.001). There was no statistical significant between vit D3 and grades of necroinflmation. |
