Abstract
The present study was carried out to elucidate the toxic effect of both Chlorpyrifos and profenofos (two-organophosphorous insecticides) and the possible ameliorative role of propolis and/or ginseng in alleviating the toxicity of both Chlorpyrifos and profenofos when given to normal rats. The following parameters were studied (ALT, AST, LDH, total proteins, albumin, globulin and protein electrophoresis), some kidney function parameters (serum urea, creatinine and cortisol hormone), lipogram (Triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL–C, LDL-C, VLDL-C) as well as, reproductive performance and testosterone level , antioxidant enzyme activities, immunological parameters (IgG, IgM and TNF-), hypoglycemic effect by measuring glucose and insulin hormone, and measuring acetylcholinesterase and some neurotransmitters (Dopmine, serotonin, epinephrine and nor-epinephrine). The histopathological changes in liver, brain kidney and testis were also studied.
