Abstract The aim of the present study was to evaluate serum leptin levels in patients with PCOS and its correlations to response to CC induction. A total number of 40 PCOS patients were enrolled in this study. According to response to CC these patients are divided into two groups, Group A 16 patients (40%) (non-responders). Group B 24 patients (responders) (60%). Hormonal assays and ultrasonographic examination were done for all the patients before the start of the treatment to confirm the diagnosis of PCOS and to exclude other pathology. After intake of the treatment, patients were monitored for ovulation detection by both vaginal ultrasonography and mid-luteal serum progesterone. It were found that 60% of patients ovulated (24 patients). The pregnancy rate was about 17.5% of patients (7 patients), and serum leptin levels as well as BMI weresignificantly high in non-responder group. |
