Abstract 100 samples of intestinal content from imported one day-old duckling were collected representing 1500 duckling. Every one sample represents 15 ducklings from same source and exposed to the same stress and transportation factors. The imported duckling flocks exhibited 11% positive samples to Salmonella by Traditional isolation methods. The serovars of isolated Salmonella were S. Cubana, S. Lomita, S. Norwich and S. Larochelle. The Real Time PCR method results were 68% of samples were positive for salmonella and the cPCR results were 56%. The obtained results indicated that the Real Time polymerase chain reaction approach is better than culturing for detecting Salmonella in intestinal content of one day old duckling. |
