Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to study the effect of oral administration of some therapeutics on the physical Biochemical and Biological properties of the goat ruminal juice. These therapeutics were represented by anthelmintic agent (Panmi.nth ), antibacterial agent (oxytetracycline hydrochloride. Terramycine tablet) antifungal agent (Greziovolvine) and tonics (vitamin Bl ’ B6 • B12 and folic acid). The different alterations regarding clinical signs, physical and biochemical properties of ruminal juice as well as total bacterial, mould and yeast counts were recorded after 2 8 24 48,96,120 hours from the begining of experiments. The most ~b.erved clinical signs were summarized as foIl.... Inappetence. grinding on teeth, congested eye ~illaries, constipation and undigested food part~cles in feaces. In addition to increased values of pulse, respiratory rates together with elevated body temperature, absence of ruminal motilities was observed following the administration of oxytetracycline hydrochloride, but a slight reduction were
detected after administration of anth elmintic and
antifungal agents. The alteration of the physical properties
included a marked change in colour, odour and consistency from light green to yellowish green, aromatic to foul odour and viscous to watery. In addition, both sedimentation activity
and cellulose digestion time were delayed following
the administfation of anthelmintics, antibiotics and antifungal agents. Microscopically, motile protozoa were
inhibited following the the highly depressed and administration active and completely of antifungal agent,
agents. anth elmintics and antibacterial The biochamical variations included a marked reduction of ruminal PH, ammonia nitrogen, total volatile fatty acids and hydrogen sulphide, specially after administration of oxytetracycline hydrochloride. However the total acidity were
significantly increased. The total protozoal count was greatly
reduced specially after administration of oxytetracycline
hydrochloride, later on both total bactarial, mould and yeast counts were greatly dropped following the administration of antibacterial and antifungal agents. Both clinically and laboratory improvements were observed following the administration of the suggested tonics, which were represented by vitamin BI ’ B6 ’ Bl2 aDd folic acid.
