Abstract A total of 100 samples of fish fillets of Tilapia nilotica and Bagrus bayad (50 of each) were collected randomly from different supermarkets at Gharbia governorate to evaluate their bacteriological and mycological conclitions Bacteriological examination indicated that the mean values of Aerobic plate count, total psychrotrophic count, total Staphylococcus aureus count, total Enterobacteriaceae count and total Colifrom count The isolated gram negative bacteria form examined fish samples of Tilapia nilotica were Achromobacter (42%), Pseudomonas species (28%),.Enterobacter (24%), Aeromonas 22%, Alcaligenes (20%), Proteus (18%), Flavobacteriurn (16%), Serratia (I 4%), Chromobacter (6%), Klebsiella (6%) and Citrobacter (4%) for Tilapia nilotica. In regard to Bagrus bayad, Achromobacter, Pseudomonas, Alcaligenes, Enterobacter, Proteus, Aeromonas, Citrobacter, Flavobacterium, Klebsiella, Chromobacterium, and Serratia were isolated from examined Importance of isolated microorganisms and possible sources of contamination of examined fishes with such organisms as well as some recommendations to improve the quality of fish fillets were discussed. |
